LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Different use needed for Bill’s

Let’s see now – Nevada is known for legalized gambling, legalized prostitution, the debauchery of Burning Man in the desert, “quickie” divorces, the folly of the Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Disposal Site and a U.S. Senator being investigated for allegedly having sex with an aide’s wife. Add to that the vacant hole in the ground at Stateline. (Face it folks, it wouldn’t have even been an idea without the casinos across the street!)

Now along comes Mr. Michael Laub with his proposal for a “gentlemen’s club” and the associated nudity, lap dancing, pole dancing and who knows what else. Not to mention the exploitation and denigration of the young ladies in his employ.

I urge the Douglas County Commissioners to vote thumbs down on this request. No matter how Mr. Laub tries to polish up the premises, it’s still going to further degrade our state and area’s reputation. I also urge Mr. Laub to do something positive and useful for everyone in our community to enjoy, respect, and support.
