LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Give back to Tahoe with foster care

Thank you to Dylan Silver for his Jan. 9 article highlighting the need for foster parents in South Lake Tahoe.

I have been involved with the foster care system here in Tahoe for almost seven years and find the shortage of foster homes to be a local tragedy. It’s a true shame that Tahoe foster children, from our own schools and neighborhoods, have to be “shipped” to a completely different city when placed in foster care.

I hope our community will respond to meet this need. It’s a wonderful way to give back and make a difference in the life of an abused, neglected, and vulnerable child. As a foster parent, you would be contributing to a child’s future, possibly impacting generations to come.
