LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Glider pilot’s safe landing to be applauded
This is in Response to the glider landing where Russ Pecoraro commented about his “disappointment” and called the company “irresponsible.”
I have a question for you, Mr. Pecoraro: have you ever flown in your life (besides in the back of an SWA jet)?
I strongly suggest you visit “SoaringNV” in Minden, and ask to take an “intro-flight” before you write such garbage about irresponsibility to a very reputable company.
Pilots are trained to deal with weather conditions, and I applaud Capt. Hazlegrove as he was able to land his aircraft safely with minimal damage to his aircraft and without any injury or inconveniece to the skiers/boarders on the hill at that time.
As mother nature doesn’t publish a weather schedule in advance, all pilots (private or ATP) assimilate all available information before flight and make the best decisions based on that info.
Russ, before you rush out to say anything to the media, please do your research first.
