LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Let them eat cake

This past weekend, the League to Save Lake Tahoe held its annual fundraiser, an Oscar De La Renta fashion show on the shores of Lake Tahoe. It is amazing the league has no problem using the lake to put money in their pockets, yet continues to obstruct the very changes that TRPA is trying to implement which would facilitate environmental improvements through redevelopment and that would benefit both the South Shore and North Shore local communities. Again, their hypocrisy knows no bounds. Their actions once again confirm that the eco-elite staff and board are so out-of-touch and have absolutely no concern for the local community. In the teeth of one of the worst recessions in the history of the country and unemployment rate more than 17 percent, the League continues to obstruct and has an Oscar de la Renta fashion show to boot. The League’s arrogance reeks of its “let them eat cake” mindset. They continue to be disingenuous. It’s time for new leadership that gets it.
