LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Water park should replace ‘The Hole’

I’m sure I’m not the first person to think of this, but on a recent visit to Sun River Resort near Bend, Ore., it came to me. We need a water park to be built from the ruins of the convention center/condo thing in the middle of town. Sun River is an amazing place with golf courses, the Des Chutes River, restaurants, shopping, a small airport, bike paths everywhere, tennis courts, playgrounds, horseback riding, and now, under construction, a water park. The park has a huge roof over much of it and enormous doors in the front which will open in the summer months. What a perfect plan that would be for our casino core area. We already have plenty of rooms and transport. How about an attraction that is family-oriented to help draw people here other than for gambling. A little grass here and there. Some shade. And the foundation is already laid. Parking below, water slides and pools above, a lazy river.

C’mon, people. Surely we can do this!
