LETTER TO THE EDITOR: What mistakes, Congressman McClintock?

In a recent newsletter, our congressman, Tom McClintock, criticizes President Obama’s State of the Union Address, saying that “the more we invest in our mistakes, the less willing we are to correct them.”

President Obama spoke about investing in our country and our future through better education, increased job training, clean energy and economic fairness to restore our middle class. He also spoke about ending tax incentives for companies that send jobs overseas and rewarding companies that create jobs here. Are those the mistakes McClintock means?

He goes on to claim that Obama’s policies have failed to revive the economy while at the same time we are hearing many reports of the economy showing signs of strengthening. This is in spite of the fact that the GOP blocks everything Obama tries to do for strictly political purposes. Their No. 1 goal is to make Obama fail rather than to work together to solve our problems.

The only proposals I hear from the GOP is more tax cuts for the rich when they already have more wealth than ever before, and more tax cuts for businesses who are currently sitting on record cash reserves.

The best way to build a recovery from the worst recession since the Great Depression, is to vote out all the obstructionists who are putting their party and their special interests ahead of the good of our country.
