Letter — Why higher taxes, governor?

How can Davis justify higher taxes? We have a prison system full of non-violent drug offenders that are costing taxepayers $25,000 each per year. That doesn’t inlude the fact that these people could be out working and supporting their families instead of sitting in prison on our dollar. We have the most people in prison per capita than any other country in the world. I would much rather see Gray Davis releasing non-violent drug offenders than charging us more to support that system. The system is broken and needs to be fixed anyway, now is as good a time as any to do that.
