To the editor:

On the subject of the city’s Park Avenue “Redevelopment moving at light speed,” it is worth mentioning that per the contract between the city and developers, the developers were to provide the Agency with evidence of their having commitments for financing their end of the deal. At this writing, such evidence has not been provided. Thus, the Redevelopment Agency’s Board is in the dark on the topic of the developers’ ability to finance the project.

Also, the American Skiing Company continues to perform poorly on the New York Stock Exchange. The ASC is struggling to reach $3 on the exchange and will report a loss for the quarter that ended on Jan. 30. According to a report in the Salt Lake Tribune on Jan. 20, the ASC ended “the fiscal year last July with a loss of $32.3 million …” In addition to the latter, the ASC has not completed its project at the Canyons in Utah. So is it correct to say light speed or the speed of light? Any guess is as good as mine.

To the editor:

In the weekend edition (Feb. 4) you published a full page devoted to snowmobiling in the Tahoe area. You mention several times that Hope Valley is a wonderful place to engage in this recreational activity. While this may be true, the fact is that snowmobiles are not allowed in Hope Valley. This beautiful valley may only be enjoyed by cross country skiers and snowshoers.
