Library offers ice cream party

The Lake Tahoe Branch Library will celebrate the summer reading program with an ice cream party. The special event will take place at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at the library, U.S. Highway 50 and Warrior Way in Zephyr Cove Park.

Participants will make homemade ice cream in-a-can. Children should provide their own toppings such as chocolate sauce, fruit, nuts, cherries and whipped cream. The library would like any small or large clear coffee can lids. Safeway and the Tahoe Douglas Library League will furnish the rest of the supplies. Children must register by Aug. 7.

“Reading Road Trip, U.S.A.” is the theme for the 2001 summer reading program. Reading records must be turned in by Aug. 25. For more information contact the Lake Tahoe Branch Library at (775) 588-6411.
