MINDEN, Nev. – East Fork firefighters responded to a 2-acre wildfire off the end of Eldon Way in the East Valley on Monday.

Fire Marshal Steve Eisele said that the fire was moving slowly to the south. No homes were reported in danger, but Douglas County deputies did alert neighbors to the fire’s possibility.

The Eldon Way fire was the largest of a series of fires set by lightning strikes.

Three of the fires were along Eastside Lane on the east side of Antelope Valley just after 4:10 p.m. A second set struck the Pine Nuts 5:30 p.m. Fires were also reported at the sandpits above Stephanie Way and along Sunrise Pass Road east of Juniper Valley.

The Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch reported nearly a dozen wildfires in Douglas and Lyon counties.
