Lillian Henson Taylor

Memorial services will take place today for Lillian Henson Taylor, who died following a brief illness Dec. 13, 2004, at her South Lake Tahoe home surrounded by family and wonderful caregivers. She was 86.

Lillian was born Oct. 28, 1918, in Charleston, W. Va., where she grew up and graduated from South Charleston High School in 1935. She moved to Southern California in 1955 and graduated from California State University, Long Beach. She entered the teaching profession and taught elementary school in Simi Valley, Calif., until her retirement. She had been a resident of South Lake Tahoe for the past four years. Lillian was a devoted wife and mother and will be remembered for her beautiful singing voice, love of people, sweet disposition and positive outlook on life.

She is survived by her daughters, Eleanor Wennberg of Santa Barbara, Calif., Carolyn Hailey of South Lake Tahoe, and Lilli Taylor Hetherington of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Timothy Hailey, Sheri Hailey Raney and Jeffrey Hailey, all of South Lake Tahoe, and Siri Wennberg Pratt of Anchorage, Alaska, Brent Hetherington of Nashville, Tenn., and Barry Hetherington of Dallas; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Taylor.

Memorial services will begin at 5:30 p.m. today at Calvary Chapel Fellowship Hall, 2093 James Ave.
