Local businesses light up the South Shore

More than 40 businesses are participating in Leadership Lake Tahoe’s inaugural Light Up Lake Tahoe.

Proceeds from the event benefit Tahoe Turning Point, a private, nonprofit agency that provides group care and residential treatment for young men ages 12 to 18.

To participate, businesses made a donation and were given strands of white LED lights. The lights will remain on display through the holiday season and will be collected in March to be stored and used toward next year’s program.

Additional lights are unavailable, but now the businesses will compete for the title of “Best Lights on the Lake.” Lighting displays will be judged the week of January 4 and the winner will be announced mid-January. E-mail lightuplaketahoe@gmail.com to be included in the program.
