Local grad heads to Notre Dame

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – South Tahoe High School graduate David McKenna has been accepted into the Physics PhD program at University of Notre Dame. McKenna was one of 90 applicants chosen for the Atomic Physics doctoral program, which focuses on research.

A native of South Lake Tahoe, McKenna attended Meyers Elementary and South Tahoe Middle School before graduating from South Tahoe High School in 2000. McKenna graduated from BYU in Provo, Utah in April 2011, with a degree of Bachelor of Science in physics. David is the son of Joe and Vicki McKenna, and Melinda Bunting. David and his wife Becca, who received her degree from BYU in communication disorders, will make their home in South Bend, Indiana, with their daughter Naomi while McKenna pursues his research.
