Local Kiwanis clubs donate time for national service day

Karen Houser
Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe

Members of the Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe and Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe Sunrisers joined thousands of Kiwanis members across the country to celebrate the Kiwanis One Day of Service on April 10.

The group helped the Boys & Girls Club by painting, tearing out old carpet that is being replaced in the computer lab and assembled recently donated desks.

The Kiwanis Club of Tahoe Sierra is the sponsor of the Kiwanis Builder’s Club at the Boys & Girls Club. The Builder’s Club is a program that develops leadership skills for youth in middle school.

Beyond the local connection with Kiwanis, the Boys & Girls Club of America and Kiwanis International formed a strategic partnership three years ago in order to strengthen the involvement of local Kiwanians in volunteering and supporting the youth in their communities.
