Local woman gathering donations for orphans

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Before Amanda Hammond leaves for Tecate, in Baja California to work with an organization called Rancho De Sus Ninos, she is asking the community for donations to help the orphans there.

Rancho De Sus Ninos is a care center for children that has orphanages, day cares and schools. Hammond leaves Sept. 19, and will be gathering supplies before her departure.

The organization currently needs:

• School supplies

• Soap

• Shampoo

• Toothpaste

• Twin bedsheets

• Bath towels

• New socks

• New underwear

Donations can be dropped off at First Baptist Church, at 1053 Wildwood Ave. at the following times: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday, 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Sunday.
