Clean Tahoe’s annual Community Cleanup Day is Saturday, May 31, offering one day of the year for South Shore residents to discard unwanted items at South Tahoe Refuse at discounted rates.

At the annual event, known to many as $5 Dump Day, South Tahoe residents can dispose of an entire vehicle-load of unwanted household and bulk items for $5, or $10 for a truck and trailer.

Residents can also take advantage of free document shredding all day, free disposal of TVs and computer monitors and disposal of refrigerators for only $15. The event is for California residential loads only. Commercial loads will pay regular prices and Nevada residents will be charged $10 per vehicle load.

Clean Tahoe is a community nonprofit group dedicated to improving the visual environment of the South Shore of the Lake Tahoe Basin through proper litter and trash management and public education. The group encourages the community to take advantage of this once-a-year opportunity to help keep Tahoe clean.

According to the group, Community Cleanup Day is made possible in part by a grant from Vail Resorts Echo as well as sponsorships from the South Tahoe Association of Realtors, Iron Mountain and Kiwanis Club.
