Body found near Tahoe Daily Tribune office

Tribune staff report

A body found at the northwest corner of the Tahoe Daily Tribune building on Sunday morning may have been there for several hours before being discovered, authorities said.

The body was that of a 55-year-old South Lake Tahoe man, whose name is not being released by authorities until the rest of his family is notified of his death.

The body was found near the Tribune building on Harrison Avenue and reported by a bystander at 8:48 a.m.

Initial indications from an autopsy performed Wednesday suggest the man died of natural causes, but the El Dorado County Coroner’s Office said Thursday it was waiting on additional test results before announcing an official cause of death.

A preliminary investigation, however, did not indicate any foul play, said Sgt. Dan Johnson at the coroner’s office.

South Lake Tahoe police Lt. David Stevenson said the body had visible minor injuries, which were consistent with initial theories of a possible bicycle crash.
