A special holiday dance production of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” is set to return to Harrah’s Lake Tahoe this Sunday.

Lake Tahoe’s Shining Stars, of the Marcia Sarosik Dance Studio, will star in the production, which made its debut in 2006 and is based on the classic Christmas poem.

Dancers in the show range in age from 2 to 18 and will perform in several holiday favorites, including “Jingle Bell Rock” and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” Ballet dances in the show will also include excerpts from “The Nutcracker,” according to a statement from the studio.

Some dancers will make their stage debut as part of the Shining Stars’ outreach program, which sponsors dance education for students who would not have the chance to participate in performances or classes otherwise.

Additionally, the cast will includes members of South Tahoe High School’s Musical Theater class, the Bijou Ballet Club and Tahoe Valley’s 5th grade choir.

“This show is the perfect kickoff to the holiday season,” said Cinnamon Pakes, a parent at the studio, in a statement. “Everyone leaves smiling and humming songs from the show.”

Showtimes for the one-day event start at 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $14 for adults and $8 for seniors and students, and they are available online at until 5 p.m. Friday or at the door 30 minutes before the show.
