City to host workshop on housing issues

Tribune staff report

South Lake Tahoe’s planning commission will hosts a public workshop Jan. 23 to further discuss what the city’s role should be in addressing housing issues.

Public input will be incorporated into a draft housing element in the city’s general plan.

The Development Services Department is updating the housing element, a state-mandated component of the city’s general plan that looks at a wide array of housing issues in the city.

The city introduced the update process in November, receiving initial public input and discussing priority housing issues at a planning commission meeting. Since then, staff and consultants have prepared a draft housing element for public review and feedback.

The workshop is scheduled for 3 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at 1901 Airport Road.

Feedback can be submitted in advance to Hilary Roverud, director of development services, by phone at 530-542-6024 or by email at
