Doggie Day festival Sunday at Cove East

California Tahoe Conservancy and Lake Tahoe Humane Society celebrate the dog days of summer this Sunday, June 22 with Doggie Day festivities at Cove East Beach.

The free, fifth-annual event offers raffle prizes, educational pointers and dog-related contests including best trick, cutest costume and dogs who looks like their owners. Plus, every leashed pooch in attendance gets a free Frisbee.

“Doggie Day celebrates everyone who respectfully shares the marsh: families, dogs and the sensitive species who inhabit the area,” Conservancy Land Steward Sarah Werick said. “Our primary obligation is to protect the marsh’s wildlife habitat and water quality values, but we also encourage recreational activity including leashed dogs enjoying Cove East.”

Pet owners will be able to learn about the California Tahoe Conservancy’s public lands and be given an opportunity to hone their pet etiquette. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
