Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe closes pool following leak

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe’s pool closed last week following reports it was leaking chlorinated water into the soil.

According to JoAnn Kittrel, spokesperson for Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, Hard Rock employees discovered the problem Thursday and immediately notified authorities.

“They are working on safely removing the water left in the pool per regulations,” Kittrel said Monday afternoon.

Kittrel said NDEP inspectors were on scene Friday to investigate and would be working with Hard Rock staff to determine where the water has leaked from.

“The most important thing is to stop the leak and assess any environmental impact,” Kittrel said. She added there is no risk to public health.

Initial inspections show, that while the pool itself is fine, the leak may be coming from a circulation pipe.

The pool has a 200,000-gallon capacity.
