Harrison Avenue crew announces night, weekend work

Sierra Nevada Construction crews will be putting extra night and weekend hours into the Harrison Avenue rebuild this week to get back on track after recent project delays.

Crews worked last Wednesday and Thursday nights and on Saturday. They will work a few more days outside of their standard construction hours as they try to catch up after delays from buried underground fuel tanks, extensive utility relocations and weather.

Crews will work between Tallac and San Francisco avenues from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Wednesday, June 4; between San Francisco and Modest avenues from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday, June 5; and at the Modesto Avenue parking lot from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 14, said Jim Marino, South Lake Tahoe’s assistant director of public works.

With the additional construction hours and no other unforeseen delays, Sierra Nevada Construction plans to be back on schedule for substantial completion of Harrison Avenue, Modesto Avenue and the Modesto Avenue parking lot by the July 4 holiday weekend.
