SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — Heavenly Mountain Resort, currently the only ski resort open at Lake Tahoe’s South Shore, opened additional terrain this weekend.

Orion, an intermediate run accessed from the Dipper Express chairlift, was unlocked on Thanksgiving, increasing the total amount of skiable terrain to 2.3 miles, according to an announcement from Heavenly.

The tubing hill has also been provided as additional beginner terrain, and the East Peak Lodge has opened with a renovated cafeteria.

Heavenly will open daily at 8:30 a.m. for the holiday weekend. It was closed today due to wind, but was scheduled to be back open Saturday.
