Highway 89 reopens in Emerald Bay at Lake Tahoe
California Route 89 is open once again in Emerald Bay.
The highway, which travels around one of the most popular destinations at Lake Tahoe, had been closed since Sunday when a winter storm dumped 18 inches of snow at higher elevations.
The highway reopened around 3 p.m. Tuesday, according to a tweet from Caltrans District 3.
