Kindergarten registration starts soon
Children entering kindergarten in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District in August need to be registered at their local school, according to a reminder from the district.
Parents need to register their children at their designated elementary school. Boundaries are available for viewing at http://www.ltusd.org or on a map that can be picked up at the Education Center, located at 1021 Al Tahoe Blvd.
Children must be five years old on or before Sept. 1, 2014, to be eligible for enrollment. Children born from Sept. 2 through Nov. 30, and who will be five years old on or before Dec. 1, 2014, qualify for transitional kindergarten — a two-year kindergarten program.
Upon registering, California law requires a child’s birth certificate, proof of immunization, a health examination upon entry to school, an oral health examination upon entry to school and proof of California residency.
LTUSD asks that anyone interested call the child’s school to schedule an appointment to register. Staff will be available Aug. 4 at Bijou Community School, Sierra House Elementary School and Tahoe Valley Elementary School.
South Tahoe Middle School registration begins Aug. 12. South Tahoe High School registration will be Aug. 11, 12, 13 and 14. Staff will be available for calls after Aug. 4 at 541-6404 for the middle school or 543-2255 for the high school.
The first day of school is Aug. 25.
