Kudos & Kindness: Children’s Forest was a great experience for my class
My third-grade class at Bijou Community School would like to thank all of the volunteers at the Children’s Forest for the wonderful and very interactive instruction they provided to the many fortunate third- and fourth-grade students of Lake Tahoe Unified School District schools who were able to attend. My students had an inspiring time learning about forest health, Tahoe history, and some of the native plants of the Lake Tahoe Basin. Children came away with a great deal of enthusiasm to continue their Tahoe studies this year. The Children’s Forest was place-based, experiential education at its best!
In particular, we’d like to thank Heidi Heideman, Megan Dees, and Faizan Shaikh of the Forest Service, Mary Wagner of the Lahontan Water Board, and Ana Molina, LTCC student volunteer and former Generation Green team member. Additionally, we’d like to appreciate our parent/grandparent volunteers who kept us focused and learning: Angelica Gomez, Theresa, Sandra Navarro, Rosario Rosales, Manuela Blanco, Moises Valencia, Gylen Romero, and Myles Hallen. Many thanks to you all for a lovely, informative day in the forest.
