Kudos & Kindness: Thanks for making holidays brighter

Many clients of El Dorado Mental Health had their holiday season enhanced this year when they received gifts donated from members of the community through the coordination of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Local NAMI chapter president Diana Hankins and other NAMI members do a fantastic job every year organizing the energy, generosity and enthusiasm of community volunteers who purchase and wrap the gifts for clients. These clients, who are not identified to gift buyers in order to ensure their confidentiality, are selected by their clinicians as individuals who would benefit from this program due to little family contact or support. For some clients, these are the only gifts they receive. The volunteers know only the general age and gender of the individual and some wish list items they had identified. The gifts are delivered to the mental health office wrapped and ready to be received. The clinicians have the pleasure of giving out these gifts and witnessing the joy on the faces of people whose lives are often difficult.

On behalf of the staff of El Dorado County Mental Health’s South Lake Tahoe Clinic we would like to thank all that participated in making this holiday season much brighter.
