South Shore reggae fans know Ky-Mani Marley, slotted to be the second headliner of last weekend’s fourth annual Lake Tahoe Reggae Festival, was an unplanned no-show at the event. On Aug. 25, he released a statement in response to the incident.
“To the folks who bought tickets for Lake Tahoe Reggae Festival, specifically to see me, I humbly apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment. This was truly not my intention, but I can only take responsibility for the internal breakdown within my team that caused this situation. I would not intentionally book a date and not show up, as this is my profession. I hope that given the chance, we will make the effort to make this up to you all. I appreciate your support and continuous love. Bless!”
The artist performed at Jamaica House in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Aug. 20, the same day he was scheduled to appear at the South Shore festival.
“His team all along told us he was going to be here and confirmed the date. There was definitely an internal miscommunication among his team,” Paul Reder of PR Entertainment, the company that produces the reggae festival, said.
