Caltrans has announced its Lake Tahoe Basin roadwork schedule for Sept. 22-28.

SPECIAL EVENT

Ironman Lake Tahoe will take place Sept. 22. Northbound State Route 89 from Fairway Drive in Tahoe City to Squaw Valley Road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Southbound State Route 267 from Northstar Boulevard to Kingswood/Commonwealth Drive in Kings Beach will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. State Route 28 in Kings Beach will be closed in both directions from Fox Street to the 267 intersection from 6:30-9:30 a.m.

The Interstate 80 eastbound off-ramp to 89/267 (Exit 188B) and the 89/267 on-ramp to westbound I-80 will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

LONG-TERM PROJECTS

State Route 89

Work continues on a $41 million project from Tahoma to Tahoe City on Lake Tahoe’s West Shore that will relocate and replace gas lines, upgrade storm water drainage and treatment systems, add curbs and gutters, resurface and realign the road and widen shoulders. Sections of the bike trail will also be revamped. Completion is expected in 2016.

Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from Chambers Lodge to Ward Creek around the clock from 10 p.m. Sunday to noon Friday. Contractors are scheduled to do tree work, utility work and drainage work.

Work continues on a $1.2 million project from the junction of State Route 28 in Tahoe City to a half-mile north of Alpine Meadows Road. The work involves installing new drainage inlets and pipe and raising the highway centerline profile to improve drainage.

Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from Fairway Drive to Alpine Meadows Road from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 2 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and midnight to 11 a.m. Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do drainage work.

State Route 28

Work continues on Placer County’s $44 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. The project will install curbs, sidewalks, roundabouts and drainage systems to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements.

Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect the No. 2 lane to be closed at various locations from National Avenue to Chipmunk Street from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. A contractor is scheduled to do utility work.

U.S. Highway 50

Work continues on completing a $43 million water-quality and roadway improvement project from the Trout Creek Bridge to Ski Run Boulevard. Landscaping, striping and electrical work is scheduled for summer 2013. Completion is expected in early fall.

Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating No. 2 lane and shoulder closures from Trout Creek to Ski Run Boulevard around the clock from midnight Monday until 11 a.m. Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do landscaping work.

Work continues on a $7.3 project from just west of Ski Run Boulevard to Wildwood Avenue adding curbs, gutters, sidewalks, new drainage systems and repaving the highway. Completion is expected by 2014.

Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane and shoulder closures from Fairway Avenue to Wildwood Avenue around the clock from 11:30 p.m. Sunday until noon Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do striping, landscaping and electrical work.

Work continues on a $12.1 million project from the “Y” intersection of Highways 50 and 89 to the South Lake Tahoe Airport adding curbs, gutters, sidewalks and new drainage systems and repaving the highway. Completion is expected by 2014.

Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane and shoulder closures from Airport Road to the “Y” from 7 p.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday through Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do grinding and paving work.

SHORT-TERM PROJECTS

U.S. Highway 50

Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from Upper Truckee River Road to Cirugu Street in Meyers overnight around the clock from midnight Monday until noon Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do bridge work.

Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from the junction of State Route 89 to the Nevada state line from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do maintenance work.

State Route 89

Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from at various locations from West Way to Eagle Falls Campground from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do miscellaneous maintenance work.
