Caltrans has released the Lake Tahoe Basin roadwork schedule for Sept. 30 through Oct. 5.

SPECIAL EVENT

The Lake Tahoe Marathon will takes place Sunday, Sept. 29. Northbound State Route 89 will be closed in Emerald Bay a quarter-mile south of Spring Creek Road from 7 a.m. to noon. Southbound SR 89 traffic will be stopped at Inspiration Point from 7:50 to 8:35 a.m. During the start of the race from 6:55 to 7:20 a.m., northbound turns onto SR 89 in Tahoe City will be restricted at Granlibakken Road, Cathedral Drive and Sequoia Avenue and southbound traffic will be held at Fanny Bridge.

LONG-TERM PROJECTS

U.S. Highway 50

Work continues on completing a $43 million water-quality and roadway improvement project from the Trout Creek Bridge to Ski Run Boulevard. Landscaping, striping and electrical work is scheduled for summer and fall 2013. Completion is expected in fall 2013.

Work continues on a $7.3 project from just west of Ski Run Boulevard to Wildwood Avenue adding curbs, gutters, sidewalks, new drainage systems and repaving the highway. Completion is expected in fall 2013.

Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane and shoulder closures around the clock from Herbert Avenue to Wildwood Avenue from midnight Monday until noon Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do paving work.

Work continues on a $12.1 million project from the “Y” intersection of Highways 50 and 89 to the South Lake Tahoe Airport adding curbs, gutters, sidewalks and new drainage systems and repaving the highway. Completion is expected in 2014.

Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane and shoulder closures from Airport Road to the “Y” around the clock from 11 p.m. Sunday to 11 a.m. Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do grinding and paving work.

Work continues on an $18.5 million project by El Dorado County to reconstruct the westbound U.S. Highway 50 ramps to El Dorado Hills Boulevard and Latrobe Road in El Dorado Hills. For more information, visit http://edcapps.edcgov.us/dot/roadwork.asp.

State Route 89

Work continues on a $41 million project from Tahoma to Tahoe City on Lake Tahoe’s West Shore that will relocate and replace gas lines, upgrade storm water drainage and treatment systems, add curbs and gutters, resurface and realign the road and widen shoulders. Sections of the bike trail will also be revamped. Completion is expected in 2016.

Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from Lodge Drive to Ward Creek around the clock from 10 p.m. Sunday to noon Friday. Contractors are scheduled to do utility work and drainage work.

Work continues on a $1.2 million project from the junction of State Route 28 in Tahoe City to a half-mile north of Alpine Meadows Road installing new drainage inlets and pipe and raising the highway centerline profile to improve drainage.

Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 2 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and midnight to 11 a.m. Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do drainage work.

State Route 28

Work continues on Placer County’s $44 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. The project will install curbs, sidewalks, roundabouts and drainage systems to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements.

Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect the No. 2 lane to be closed at various locations from Beach Avenue to Fox Street from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do utility work.

SHORT-TERM PROJECTS

U.S. Highway 50

Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from the South Fork American River to Ice House Road around the clock from midnight Monday through 11:59 p.m. Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do bridge work.

Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from Upper Truckee River Road to Cirugu Street in Meyers overnight around the clock from midnight Monday until noon Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do bridge work.

Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures at the Upper Truckee River bridge around the clock from midnight Monday until 11 a.m. Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do bridge work.

Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures at the Trout Creek bridge around the clock from midnight Monday until 11 a.m. Friday. A contractor is scheduled to do bridge work.

State Route 89

Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from Eagle Rock to Sequoia Avenue in Tahoe City from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do maintenance work.

Motorists can expect one-way traffic controls from Silver Creek Campground to Goose Meadows Campground from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do maintenance work.

State Route 267

Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from Tiger Avenue in Kings Beach from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. A contractor is scheduled to do utility work.
