Liberty announces scholarship recipients

Liberty Utilities is providing $500 scholarships for six high school students and a $750 scholarship for one community college student in its service territory.

This is the second consecutive year the utility has provided the scholarships. This year’s scholarships awards go to:

• Sara Ortega, of South Tahoe High School

• Cory Peterman, of Loyalton High School

• Keaton Peters, of Douglas High School

• Nestor Gutierrez, of Coleville High School

• Stein Arnston, of North Tahoe High School

• Trevor Ohle, of Portola High School

• Nemesis Ramirez, of Lake Tahoe Community College

A representative of Liberty Utilities attended each of the high schools’ awards ceremonies to congratulate the students and present the scholarship checks.

“We’re very pleased to be able to offer these scholarships to deserving students,” said Mike Smart, president of Liberty Utilities-California. “This is just one of the ways we can support the communities we serve.”
