Several Lake Tahoe and Reno residents will be dancing their way through a “full-blown” Halloween-themed production at Harrah’s this month.

The show, called “Peek-A-Boo … I See You”, will feature a number of dance styles and performers from the area when it plays in Harrah’s South Shore Room on Oct. 25 at 8 p.m.

The program’s tagline — “Join us for an evening out where your nightmares and your fantasies collide!” — provides a glimpse at what to expect during the show, but cast members and choreographers are quick to avoid spoilers.

“I wanted to do a Halloween show that could play any time of year, but still have the creepiness of the holiday,” Madeline Feldman, owner of Prestige Productions, stated in an email.

Prestige Productions is presenting the event, which will open as the Tahoe- and Reno-based company’s premier production.

Feldman, who choreographed MontBleu’s The Male Room, wrote the script for the show with guest choreographer Spencer Christian. Combined with the efforts of choreographer Dino Elias, the trio designed original dance pieces for the production. The result was a mix of burlesque, hip-hop, acrobatic and aerial styles.

“Everyone contributed ideas,” she said, “and we came up with bits and pieces as a team.”

Most shows are strictly one dancing style, Feldman said. So she wanted to give the audience a taste of everything while showcasing the talents of her cast.

“The show is definitely sexy, if I didn’t mention that already – parental discretion advised!” she said in the email.

The production, although largely comprised of interpretative pieces, follows a story about a man who visits a fortuneteller. As the seer reads the man’s fortune through a crystal ball, a series of sequences unfold.

“I originally liked the dream scheme, a nightmare/fantasy combination, but decided it was a bit cliché,” she wrote. “So we went with a fortune teller/crystal ball.”

Feldman said her main inspiration for the show was to bring “full-blown” performance productions back to the Tahoe area and give the town some unique entertainment. She also wanted to provide work for talented performers near Tahoe and Reno.

Of the 13-member cast, eight are from South Lake Tahoe, Feldman said, including 24-year-old Rebecca Lincoln.

Lincoln, who will be singing during a couple different scenes in Peek-A-Boo, has performed in a number of large dance shows over the years, she said. She grew up dancing with Feldman, along with several other cast members in the production.

On Monday, Lincoln said the show is “definitely a new thing” for the Tahoe and Reno areas and will feature a variety of professional dancing — not just show girls.

“We’re all local dancers just showing what the Tahoe and Reno areas has produced,” she said.

Looking forward, Lincoln hopes to continue dancing for Prestige Productions as the company works on future productions, she said.

“Definitely keep your eye out for Prestige Productions,” Lincoln said. “We’re going to be a great addition to the South Lake Tahoe area.”
