LTCC features new spring art exhibits at Halden Gallery

Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) is featuring an array of drawing, paintings, and assemblage by Michael Murillo in One Man’s Show: An Eclectic Body of Work by One Artist. Murillo, now retired, was an art professor and lecturer for many years at multiple colleges in California. He’s also worked in community college administration and as a consultant to the arts.

The seven featured artists in the Haldan Gallery are Malia Landis, Evan Hobart, Wesley Wright, David White, Avery Palmer, and LTCC Art Department faculty members Colleen Sidey and Bryan Yerian. Although the ceramic sculpture on display is diverse in subject matter and scale, there is a visual thread of fine craftsmanship and intricate surfaces. All of the artworks have a strong attention to detail and a focus on the personal narrative with elements of surrealism.

The Haldan Art Gallery is open Tuesday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Foyer Gallery is open when the school is open. Both exhibitions are on display until mid-June. LTCC is located at 1 College Drive in South Lake Tahoe. For more information call 530-541-4660, for the deaf: TTY 530-541-1870.
