Mobile dental clinic offers services in South Lake

Adults and children with Medi-Cal will be able to see a dentist in South Lake Tahoe throughout June and July with the arrival of a mobile dental clinic.

Tooth Travelers is the only provider in the South Lake Tahoe area that accepts Medi-Cal for dental services, according to a First 5 El Dorado Commission press release.

Services will be available by appointment Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. behind the Barton Community Health Center, located at 2201 South Ave.

No referral is needed and all forms can be completed at the time of service. Credit card and cash payments are welcomed for families without insurance.

Preventative dental care, including an annual exam and cleaning, is important for adults and children to avoid more extensive and costly care in the future, according to the press release. The American Dental Association recommends children start having dental exams by their first birthday and are required for children in Lake Tahoe Unified School District before entering 1st grade.
