News briefs: Easter egg hunt, Pacific Jazz Combo performs and more
VETERANS AND MILITARY REUNION EVENT
A veterans and military reunion event benefiting Operation Rebound is scheduled for Friday through Sunday, March 18-20, at Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort.
According to a news release, the event is a chance for veterans and active military to spend a weekend in the Lake Tahoe area. This is an opportunity for those who have served to reconnect with fellow vets from past and present conflicts. The event is designed for attendees to reconnect with first responders and rehabilitation personnel from the past in a healthy and supportive place far from the battlefield.
Free lift tickets will be offered at Sierra-at-Tahoe resort for veterans with a DD214 or active military with ID. Limited free lift tickets are available for veteran families on an individual basis. Snowshoeing and snow play areas at Sierra-at-Tahoe will also be available to families of the attendees.

The El Dorado County Grand Jury is a vehicle for committed men and women to keep government accountable to the county’s citizens. Applicants must be Untied States citizens, at least 18 years of age, have resided in the county for at least one year at the time of the swearing-in date, and cannot hold an elected office. Jurors serve for a period of one year — July 1 to June 30. Jurors can expect to serve six to 15 hours per week, and they receive a small stipend as well as mileage reimbursement.
The El Dorado County Grand Jury is an investigatory body created for the benefit of county citizens by providing oversight to the proper and legal operation of public entities. PACIFIC JAZZ COMBO PEFORMS
Tahoe Arts Project is hosting The Pacific Jazz Combo on Friday, March 18, at South Tahoe High School Theater beginning at 7 p.m. The Pacific Jazz Combo comprises students from the University of Pacific Conservatory of Music. They represent some of the top jazz performers in the program and have received impressive awards such as best performance at the 2015 Monterey Jazz Festival, two-time awardee Best of Competition at the Seattle Jazz Experience, and concerts with national jazz artists such as Christian McBride, Monty Alexander and Edward Simon. The groups’ musical selections range from classic jazz masterpieces arranged by the members to original compositions.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children and will be available at the door.
The Pacific Jazz Combo will perform in South Shore schools the week of March 14-18. Tahoe Arts Project is a nonprofit organization whose main focus is the presentation of performing arts in our local schools. For more information, call 530 542-3632.
EASTER EGG HUNT
The Lake Valley Fire Protection District will host a community Easter egg hunt Sunday, March 27, at 9 a.m. The event is planned for Tahoe Paradise Park. Attendees should bring cameras to take family photos with the Easter Bunny and fire truck. Those who find golden eggs will win prizes. Call 530-577-3737 for more information.
