CITY STAFF ADVISED NOT TO TALK WITH COUNCILMEMBER
South Lake Tahoe city staff members were advised not to speak with city councilwoman JoAnn Conner following a closed session discussion on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
The closed session item pertained to City Manager Nancy Kerry’s evaluation.
Conner confirmed the matter Tuesday, but she could not discuss the item, citing it was a personnel and closed-session matter.
All communications from Conner to city staff will go through City Attorney Tom Watson’s office.
Conner was absent at the South Lake Tahoe Solid Waste Joint Powers Authority board meeting on Monday, Sept. 21. She serves as the city’s representative on the board, which also has city staff support — Ray Jarvis, South Lake Tahoe’s public works director.
Councilman Tom Davis served in Conner’s place as the alternate.
Davis, like Conner, said the issue was a personnel matter.
“The city attorney has advised city council members not to talk about it,” Davis said by phone on Tuesday, Sept. 12. “On the other side, she (Conner) has been advised to not talk to city staff and that sends a strong message.”
