NURSERY SCHOOL ACCEPTING STUDENTS
South Lake Tahoe’s only cooperative preschool has two openings for the upcoming school year.
For more than 57 years, Tahoe Parents Nursery School (TPNS) has been cultivating a spirit of community and emphasizing cooperation, sharing, and forming friendships for children and their families. The school operates from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday from mid-September to early June.
MEET WITH TIBETAN BUDDHIST MONKS
Tibetan Buddhist Monks will offer a healing event Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 7 p.m. at Camp Richardson’s Boat House (next to Beacon Restaurant, 1900 Jameson Beach Road, in South Lake Tahoe, Calif.). They are currently visiting from the historic Nechung Monastery in Dharamsala, India. The cost is a suggested donation of $10-$20 per person, however no one will be turned away. All donations go directly to Nechung Buddhist Center. Tibetan refugee made handicrafts will be offered for sale at the event. Sierra Friends of Tibet will offer food following the event. TAHOE DANCE BAND EVENT
A Hawaiian dance with Tahoe Dance Band is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 28, from 7:30-10 p.m. at South Lake Tahoe Senior Center (3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd). Lillian Emily Trella was born to Phillip Trella and Jenelle Alessi of South Lake Tahoe on Aug. 14.
Kaylani Arelia Ramirez Vazquez was born to Martin Ramirez and Michelle Vazquez of South Lake Tahoe on Aug. 15.
Oliver Maxwell Pottasch was born to Alan and Veronika Pottasch of Bridgeport, Ca., on Aug. 16.
TAHOE TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT HIRES RUSS NYGAARD
The Tahoe Transportation District recently appointed Russ Nygaard as transportation capital program manager to oversee the planning, design and execution of the agency’s capital projects. With 26 years engineering experience in transportation and bridge projects, Nygaard will perform project management duties and assist with funding procurement and budget maintenance while ensuring all federal requirements are met and executed on schedule.
