SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — A small fire broke out near Heavenly Mountain Sunday afternoon, Sept. 4, on the California side.
According to Brice Bennett, Amador-El Dorado CalFire unit’s public information officer, the fire — a 40-foot by 25-foot spot in Van Sickle Bi-State Park — was reported at 4 p.m. and contained by 6:19 p.m. Cause is still under investigation.
Matt Fisher, a South Lake Tahoe resident who was on the mountain attending a wedding, said planes may have dropped water on the area, and the gondola was back up and running late afternoon.
