South Lake Tahoe City Council to discuss partial Chateau project

The South Lake Tahoe City Council could approve construction of a portion of the stalled development project at the state line Tuesday.

Owens Financial, the owner of most of the site following bankruptcy hearings, has proposed building the retail portion of the long-stalled Chateau-at-Heavenly Village project, which was originally envisioned as a more than $400 million complex including convention center and lodging space. The retail space considered for construction would border Lake Tahoe Boulevard across from Heavenly Village and Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel.

The Council is scheduled to discuss approval of the partial project at Lake Tahoe Airport at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday following several other agenda items. The meeting starts at 9 a.m. Lake Tahoe Airport is located at 1901 Airport Road.
