South Lake Tahoe man arrested for allegedly stabbing family member

South Lake Tahoe police arrested a 24-year-old man Tuesday night, Feb. 2, after he allegedly stabbed a family member during a dispute.
Police responded to a report of the altercation on the 1400 block of Melba Drive around 6:20 p.m. Tuesday and arrested Christopher Joseph Amato for allegedly stabbing a 37-year-old family member in the abdomen, said South Lake Tahoe police Lt. Brian Williams. The victim was taken to Barton Memorial Hospital in South Lake Tahoe with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.
Amato was booked into El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. He remained in custody in custody Thursday afternoon, Feb. 4, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office website. It is unknown if he has an attorney.
