Tahoe Chamber mixer to benefit Bread & Broth

Staff Report

Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce’s (Tahoe Chamber) first “Connect for a Cause Mixer” of 2018 will take place Thursday, Jan. 18.

The event, which is being hosted at Riva Grill, will benefit local nonprofit Bread & Broth, an all-volunteer organization whose mission is to ease hunger in the South Shore community.

“Bread & Broth is only able to serve those who are food insecure on the South Shore because of the support we get from the community,” Paula Peterson, Bread & Broth advisory board member, said in a press release. “Our Bread & Broth 4 Kids and hot meal programs are successful due to people in our community who help with donations of time, money and food.”

The mixer will help to replenish Bread & Broth’s B&B 4 Kids meal program, which provides weekend food bags to over 150 students in grades kindergarten through eight, according to the press release. Guests of the event are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items. The B&B 4 Kids program is primarily looking for canned spaghetti and meatballs, beef ravioli, stew and chili, tuna, mac n’ cheese instant cups, chicken noodle and vegetable soups, and fruit and applesauce packets.

Those who bring any of the items above will be entered into a raffle to win the evening’s door prize, four single-day lift tickets to any Vail mountain resort. The more non-perishable food items, the more chances there are to win.

In addition to the door prize, raffle tickets will be available for purchase with all proceeds benefiting Bread & Broth.

The event will take place Thursday, Jan. 18, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. A minimum $20 donation for chamber members and $30 for non-chamber members is required. Visit http://www.facebook.com/tahoechamber or http://www.tahoechamber.org for information.
