TRPA seeks Best in the Basin nominations

Tribune staff report

Tahoe Regional Planning Agency is accepting nominations for its Best in the Basin awards program. The program recognizes environmentally compatible projects that stand out as the best designed, planned and implemented.

Projects completed between Oct. 12, 2012 and Dec. 31, 2013, are eligible for consideration by the judging panel later this spring or early summer. Nominations are due by March 28.

This is a new judging schedule for the awards program, now in its 24th year. The schedule will let judges tour project sites in better weather conditions when sites are free of snow and vegetation is established, according to TRPA.

“For more than two decades, the Best in the Basin awards program has recognized property owners, contractors, architects and planners whose work and investment stands out as brilliant examples of environmental design in the Tahoe Basin,” TRPA spokesman Jeff Cowen said in a news release.

Winners will be selected by a panel of local professionals in the fields of architecture, landscaping, planning, engineering and resource management.

Projects that are selected to receive Best in the Basin awards will be acknowledged by the TRPA Governing Board in summer 2014.
