Locals get married

Layne Victoria Swanson and Casey Carbaugh Moss were married Oct. 27 at the home of the bride’s mother in Sierra Country Estates, Gardnerville, Nev. The double-ring 3 p.m. outdoor ceremony was performed by Judge Eugene Rasmussen and witnessed by 250 family members and friends.

The bride is the daughter of Nancy and Charles McDermid of South Lake Tahoe and Gardnerville and Keith and Laurie Swanson of Zephyr Cove. The bridegroom’s parents are Al and Patty Moss of South Lake Tahoe and Woodfords, Calif.

Given in marriage by her father, Keith Swanson, the bride was attired in a two-piece ivory bridal satin gown featuring a corset-back strapless bodice with scalloped edge accents, semi-cathedral-length train and box-pleated skirt. The entire gown was embellished with dark ivory floral embroidery and reattached embroidered flowers, each accented with crystal beading. She wore a finger-tip double veil of ivory tulle and carried a handtied bouquet of Virginia, Sahara and Sari roses, yellow feesia, orange rust callas, hypericum berry, bells of Ireland, millette, autumn grasses, fuzzy millete lady’s mantle and chocolate cosmos with crisscrossed silver cord and gun metal pearls on rust sheer ribbon.

Maid of honor was Mindy Gutierrez of San Francisco and bridesmaids were the bride’s sister, Brooke Swanson of South Lake Tahoe, her sister-in-law, Britta Swanson of San Francisco and her step-sisters, Jennie Reitz of Agoura Hills, Calif., and Jennifer Scott of South Lake Tahoe. Junior bridesmaids were the bridegroom’s nieces, Kelsie Martinez of Minden, Nev., and Alyssa Moss of South Lake Tahoe and the bride’s niece, Ayden Williamson of South Lake Tahoe. Each attendant wore a two-piece sage satin dress with sleeveless top featuring scalloped accents and embroidered flowers in darker sage with long A-line skirt and carried rust callas with galax tied with rust ribbon.

Flower girl was the bridegroom’s niece, Kealy Moss of Minden and ring bearer was the bridegroom’s nephew, Dakota Moss of South Lake Tahoe.

Best man was Matt Bishop of South Lake Tahoe and groomsmen were the bridegroom’s brothers, Scott Moss of South Lake Tahoe and Todd Moss of Minden, the bride’s brother, Kyle Swanson of San Francisco and Mike Nielsen of South Lake Tahoe.

Immediately following the ceremony a reception with dinner and dancing was hosted by the bride’s parents at The Supper Club at Genoa Lakes.

Upon their return from a one-week wedding trip to Carmel and the Monterey Peninsula, the newlyweds established their home at South Lake Tahoe.

The bride graduated from Santa Catalina High School at Monterey in 1994 and received a bachelor’s degree in photography from Brooks Institute of Photography, Santa Barbara, Calif., in 1998. She is marketing coordinator for Design Workshop.

The bridegroom is a 1993 graduate of South Tahoe High School and received a bachelor’s degree in business management from Sonoma State University at Rohnert Park, Calif., in 1998. He is vice president of administration for PAAL-CO. Inc.
