Locals take the Polar Bear Plunge on New Year’s Day

Provided to the Tribune

Locals took the plunge into a chilly Lake Tahoe on New Year’s Day at Camp Richardson during the annual “Polar Bear Plunge.” The tradition began informally three years ago with three men, growing to include 21 participants in 2010, including two women. The brave swimmers took to the water around noon.
