Lola Schofield

Lola Juliette Schofield, 86, of Butte, Mont., passed away Sept. 11, 2006, at St. James Healthcare in Butte. Lola was born March 19, 1920, in Portland, Ore., to Edson and Stella Dunlap, an only child.

Lola and Richard Schofield were married Aug. 24, 1940, at Fallen Leaf Lake and Lola and her family moved many times with her husband’s job, including to Hawaii. In 1959 they returned to Lake Tahoe to build Schofield’s Tah Chalet. During this time Lola was involved in the Barton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. In 1970 they moved to Las Vegas, but returned to Lake Tahoe after a few months.

Lola was a devoted wife and mother. She was very talented and could sew, knit, crochet, embroider or paint anything imaginable. In her later years she enjoyed playing cards with her friends. She will be greatly missed.



She is survived by her son, Richard Lawrence Schofield of Sacramento; granddaughter, Heidi Schofield-Reopelle, of Butte; great-grandchildren, Jim and Jordan Schofield of Butte; and stepbrother, Jack Morgan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; sons, Richard Daniel and Michael Morgan Schofield; and her mother and father.

Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at McFarlane Mortuary, 887 Emerald Bay Road.
