Longtime members still heads STPUD

South Tahoe Public Utility District Board of Directors President James Jones will continue as head of the board for 1999.

STPUD’s board appointed Jones on Dec. 17, the last meeting of 1998.

Jones has been elected to the board several times since 1977 and is the longest-serving director in the district’s history. In addition to his position as president in 1998, Jones served as president in 1982 and ’83.

In December of 1997, Gov. Pete Wilson appointed Jones to serve on the statewide Advisory Panel on the Effectiveness of 1998 Standards for Underground Storage Tanks, a group whose work should be completed this month.

Vice President Chris Strohm also will serve another term. Strohm was president in 1996 and 1997.
