The Lake Tahoe Community College cross country season is off and running for the fifth season under the direction of Terry Adams-Schmidt.

Tashia Steele and Dan Wolfers led the Kokanee at the second meet of the season Saturday at Sierra College in Rocklin. Steele was 38th in 24 minutes, 12 seconds for the 3.1-mile women’s run, while Wolfers cracked the top 100 with 4-mile men’s time of 26:27.

American River captured the women’s title and Sequoias claimed the men’s crown.

Steele and Wolfers were joined by Mike Del Rosa for the season opener Sept. 8 in Susanville, Calif. Times and places were not available. Shasta swept the team titles.

The Kokanee’s happy trails continue at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shasta College.

Adams-Schmidt’s roster has grown during this week’s fall enrollment period.

“I’m looking at a full men’s team and three committed women. I’m hoping to pick up a couple of hardy women to complete the team,” Adams-Schmidt said.

The Kokanee volleyball team is also seeking players. Perspective players should call the college athletic department at 541-4660.
