LTCC presents ‘2 by 5’
ALL |
The Lake Tahoe Community College Duke Theater presents “2 by 5,” a musical revue celebrating the music of Kander and Ebb.
LTCC musical director Mark Williams said that although John Kander and Fred Ebb are not quite the household names that Rodgers and Hammerstein are, they did write two of musical theater’s best-known and -loved musicals, “Chicago” and “Cabaret.”
The “2” in the show’s name stands for them. The “5” comes from the original production in 1978, when five singer-dancers and a pianist performed the show in the famous Village Gate cabaret in New York City’s Greenwich Village.
LTCC’s production will be on a slightly grander scale. It features 26 soloists, 11 dancers, a live six-piece combo with new arrangements, a swinging nightclub set and beautiful costumes.
The show runs at 8 p.m. Saturday and March 13-15, and at 2 p.m. March 16 in the LTCC Duke Theater.
Tickets are available at the theater box office for $7 general admission, $5 for seniors and $4 for students. There also is premium table seating available on a first-come basis. For more information, call (530) 541-4660, ext. 382. The college is located at 1 College Drive.
