LTVA approves budget

The Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority kicked off the week with a 2001-02 budget.

The $3.2 million budget was approved Thursday by the LTVA board in a 4-0 vote, Executive Director Terry LeBan confirmed. Chairwoman Deb Howard and board member Tom Davis were absent.

Within that budget, the board took the marketing committee’s recommendations to pass the funding requests for a high-profile lineup of special events planned through the fiscal year. Collectively, the funding amounts to $116,500.

Individually, Sierra-at-Tahoe will receive $33,000; Heavenly Ski Resort, $30,000; the Institute of Mountain Photography, $5,000; Tahoe Rim Trail, $2,500; Lake Tahoe Marathon, $15,000; Lake Tahoe Pioneering in Film Festival, $15,000, and the Valhalla Arts & Music Festival and Renaissance Festival $6,000 and $10,000, respectively.
