M. Jerry Denton

Private graveside services were conducted at Ridgeview Cemetery in McKinney, Texas, for M. Jerry Denton, who died July 16, 2007, in Amarillo, Texas.

Jerry was born April 14, 1936, in Denton, Texas. The town was named after her family. She graduated from a university in Texas and worked for Southern Bell for many years. She lived in Pacifica, Calif., in the 1970s and she and her friend, Merwyn Reeves, owned a craft store in San Francisco. A 26-year resident of South Lake Tahoe, Jerry moved to Tahoe in 1977. She worked for Harrah’s Lake Tahoe from 1978 to 1999, when she retired after 21 years as the compensation manager.

Jerry loved all animals, especially cats, and was a fan of Garfield. She enjoyed watching women’s college basketball and Broadway musicals. An ardent golfer, she loved to play at Tahoe Paradise Golf Course, where she was a member, and at Sunridge Golf Course. She played almost daily in her retirement until cancer re-emerged. Jerry was a strong, admired woman and she will be missed.

She is survived by her longtime friend, Merwyn Reeves, of Tyler, Texas, and many, many friends who wish her peace. She was predeceased by her mother in the late 1980s.
